Brussels, 29/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 28 June, the European Council called on “all groups in Libya” to work with the Libyan national government of understanding as the “only legitimate government of Libya” in order to re-establish stability, fight terrorism and tackle the problem of migration from central Mediterranean countries.
European leaders also welcomed the UN Security Council's adoption of Resolution 2292 (see EUROPE 11573) and the expanded role of the naval operation in the Mediterranean EUNAVFOR Med Sophia to ensure that the arms embargo on arms going to the Mediterranean is respected and that the Libyan coast guard receives training (see EUROPE 11576).
