13/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - Polisario Front criticises pressure exerted on General Court of the European Union. The appeal formulated by the Council of the EU and the European Commission against the ruling by the General Court of the European Union in the case involving the agricultural agreement with Morocco and its contested territorial claims (see EUROPE 11453 and 11506), will be examined on 19 June next by the European Court of Justice. This announcement was made on Sunday 12 June in Algiers by the Foreign Minister for the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (RASD), an offshoot of the Polisario Front. In a statement reported by the Sahrawi press agency, SPS, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek denounced the pressure that "Morocco and European countries, including France" were exerting on the Court to make it go back on its decision. He emphasised that the Court of Justice of the European Union is “Now facing a severe test: to prove its independence". Mr Mohamed Sidati, the RASD Representative to the EU, said that the cancellation on December 10 of the agreement on reciprocal liberalization in agricultural products between the EU and Morocco is "a rejection of any alleged Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara".
