01/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - Gazprom expects record increase in its gas supplies to Europe this year. During its annual press conference on Tuesday 31 May, the Russian gas company, Gazprom, indicated that it believed it was "realistic" to attain record gas supplies to European countries and Turkey in 2016. It is counting on export volumes of 165 billion cubic metres this year, even more, in the event of a harsher winter, as opposed to 158 billion m³ in 2015. The vice president of Gazprom, Alexandre Medvedev, repeated that the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project between Russia and Germany was compatible with Community rules. He also estimated that the EU would need between 80 to 100,000,000,000 m³ of additional gas supplies by 2025 and 150 billion m³ of additional gas deliveries by 2030. He highlighted the fact that suppliers of liquefied natural gas would not be able to supply this on their own. (EH)
