27/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - €550 million facility for Turkey already spent. During a visit to a refugee camp in Harran (Turkey) on Tuesday 26 April, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy, Johannes Hahn, announced that the EU had already spent €550 million out of the €3 billion from the Facility for Turkey. During a press briefing, the Commissioner explained "Out of the 3 billion, 200 million has already been spent since the beginning of the year and 350 million was spent last year". The Commissioner highlighted the importance of beginning work on the integration of refugees in Turkey and the fact that this would also involve improving skills in the Turkish language. Mr Hahn added that the EU would emphasise resources for developing language skills, as part of its financial support. (CG)
