25/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Two new External Action Service appointments. On Friday 22 April, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy appointed Ms Birgitte Nygaard Markussen as the new Director, Deputy Managing Director for Africa and Mr Luc Devigne as the new Director, Deputy Managing Director Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and OSCE at the European External Action Service (EEAS). Ms Nygaard Markussen is currently the Director for Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Previously she served as the Danish Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad and the Central African Republic, as Deputy Director for Environment, Energy and Climate Change and as Deputy Head of Mission in Uganda (also accredited to Burundi and Rwanda). Mr Devigne is currently Head of Unit, Market Access, Industrial Sectors, Energy and Raw Materials at the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission. Previously he served as Head of Unit Europe (EEA/EFTA, Balkans), Turkey, Russia, Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia and as Head of Unit, Intellectual Property and Public Procurement, both at DG Trade.
