23/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - Committee of Permanent Representatives' gives go-ahead for common technical navigation techniques. On Wednesday 23 March, the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER I) approved the informal agreement reached last week at the end of the inter-institutional dialogue on technical standards for inland river vessels (see EUROPE 11515). This will involve standards that affect all technical aspects of riverboats in the context of certification and authorisation for navigating the EU's inland river ways, including the Rhine. The Council is subsequently expected to adopt this agreement in point A (without debate) by the summer, explained one European source. (PH)
