18/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU/OPEC dialogue high-level meeting on 21 March. The challenges created by downward trends in oil prices and the analysis of future trends in the oil market in the context of a sharp fall in investments in exploration and production, as well as the gradual elimination of subsidies for fossil fuels and the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energies, will constitute the subjects at the heart of a high level meeting in the dialogue between the EU and the Organisation for Petrol Exporting Countries (OPEC) on Monday 21 March in Vienna. Participants at this meeting will include the Commissioner for Energy and Climate, Miguel Arias Cañete. EU oil imports are expected to account for more than 90% of total oil consumption over the next decade, pointed out the Commission. OPEC includes 13 oil-producing countries that represent more than a third of all global oil supplies. (EH)
