Brussels, 18/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - At the Civil Society Organisations (CSO) Forum held in Brussels on Friday 18 March, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica announced the launch of a new call for proposals for Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR) projects, designed and implemented by civil society and local authorities.
“The active engagement of the European public in global development issues is fundamental”, Mimica stated, mentioning the key role civil society organisations have played in the current migration crisis, in the achievement of sustainable development goals and in raising the public's awareness of development issues.
An envelope of €90 million is available under the new DEAR programme in order to finance eligible projects - be this on awareness-raising of the multiple challenges in sustainable development, or on issues like climate change, migration, gender equality, workers' rights or sustainable consumption.
