17/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU cofinances almost €1.6 billion for Polish road network development. As part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), the European Commission announced on Thursday 17 March that it had approved the co-financing of 330 km of trunk road construction in Poland. Cohesion Funds will contribute €1.2 billion to this project, while the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will supply an additional €493 million to the project, whose total cost stands at an estimated €3.3 billion. Jyrki Katainen, the European commissioner for investment, used this occasion to point out that the Commission had recently published guidelines for combining the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) with structural and investment funds (see EUROPE 11496).
