23/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - EIB earmarks €250 million for road infrastructure. On Tuesday 23 February, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced the signing of financing contracts worth a total amount of €250 million to modernise road infrastructure and support entrepreneurs and project organisers in Tunisia. The Vice President of the EIB, Roman Escolano, explained: “This financing is fundamental to Tunisia and the Tunisian people because it will have a decisive effect on economic development, social cohesion and employment”. A press release explained that the EIB will have spent almost €1.5 billion since the 2011 revolution in “setting up new projects in key sectors of the Tunisian economy such as energy, support for the private sector, infrastructure, education and social housing”.
