23/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - BusinessEurope wants ambitious agreement on TTIP. As part of the 12th round of free trade negotiations between the EU/US (TTIP) this week in Brussels, the European employers' body, BusinessEurope, called for negotiators to work throughout 2016 to obtain an “ambitious” agreement that included the most difficult issues that arose under the mandate of President Obama. The organisation emphasised that an agreement that offered the two sides new outlets for public procurement and which got rid of unnecessary costs resulting from regulatory differences on test and labelling requirements is the “very essence” of BusinessEurope's support for the TTIP. BusinessEurope also appealed for regulatory convergence in the different industrial sectors, a permanent structure to ensure coherent dialogue between regulatory bodies an energy chapter that drew up modern and ambitious rules in domains that have not been sufficiently covered by multilateral agreements.
