12/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - Quartet to prepare report to take peace talks forward. The representatives of the Quartet on the Middle East (EU, United Nations, United States and Russia) announced on Friday 12 February that they would prepare recommendations to help make progress with the two-state solution. “The Quartet will prepare a report on the situation on the ground, including recommendations that can help inform international discussions on the best way to advance the two-state solution”, the Quartet said in a statement following a meeting in Munich, without giving any further details. Highlighting previous grievances, the Quartet said that it is urgent to stabilise the situation and reverse negativity on the ground. “Both sides must swiftly demonstrate through policies and actions, a genuine commitment to a two-state solution in order to rebuild trust and avoid a cycle of escalation”, the Quartet added.
