04/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU denounces launch of “satellite”. On Thursday 4 February, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, stated that any launch by North Korea that uses ballistic missile technology “would be in clear violation of several UN Security Council Resolutions”. The country has announced that it intended to launch a “satellite” into orbit this February. The High Representative said “It would be a further provocation in the wake of the illegal nuclear test the DPRK conducted on 6 January and yet another unacceptable threat to international peace and security in the region and beyond”. She added that Pyongyang “will not find any security in these actions, which can only escalate tensions in the region”. The spokesperson said that North Korea had to fully comply with its international obligations and urged the country to make a commitment to “credible and meaningful” dialogue with the international community, particularly within the framework of the Six-Party Talks.
