29/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Hahn's visit to support Jordan and Lebanon. European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn went to Jordan on Thursday 28 January, and Lebanon on Friday 29 January, to underline the EU's support to these two countries which are in the front line with regard to the inflows of Syrian refugees. “We are trying to respond to the needs of these countries in connection with the refugee crisis, but beyond that, to strengthen and deepen our bilateral relations”, Hahn's spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic, told EUROPE. Jordan's Minister for Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh elsewhere stated that Jordan's relations with the EU were “a cornerstone” of his country's foreign policy. Without giving further details, Kocijancic said that the conference on Syria in London on 4 February would be the chance “to present a framework for the new commitment of the EU, particularly in the light of the European neighbourhood policy (ENP) review”. Hahn also discussed education with his Jordanian and Lebanese partners. (CG)
