Brussels, 05/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - The annual inflation rate stood at 0.2% in December 2015 in the eurozone, which is unchanged from November, according to a flash estimate published on 5 January by the statistical office of the EU, Eurostat. According to Reuters, this means that inflation was lower than the economists anticipated. The price of food, alcohol and tobacco are expected to experience the highest upwards increases in annual terms in December (1.2% compared to 1.5% in November), followed by services (1.1%, compared to 1.2% in November), non-energy industrial goods (0.5%, stable compared to November) and energy (-5.9%, from -7.3% in November). The annual inflation rate also stood at 0.2% in the eurozone in November, compared to 0.1% in October and 0.1% in the European Union as a whole, compared to 0.0% in October, according to figures published by Eurostat on 16 December of last year.
