Brussels, 27/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 27 October, the Council decided not to oppose a Commission regulation removing Fiji, Iraq, the Marshall Islands and Tonga from the list of countries benefitting from the EU's generalised scheme of tariff preferences (GSP) as of 1 January 2017.
This regulation also removes Georgia from the list of GSP+ beneficiary countries - a scheme encouraging sustainable development and good governance - as of 1 January 2017, and removes Samoa from the list of countries benefitting from Everything But Arms as of 1 January 2019.
The Council decided not to oppose a Commission regulation amending the graduation thresholds for tariff preferences of the GSP as of 1 January 2015, when China, Thailand, the Maldives and Ecuador were removed from the list of GSP beneficiaries.
These delegated acts will only enter into force with the consent of the European Parliament.
