13/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - 2015 RegioStars Awards. On Tuesday 13 October, the European Commission's DG Regio made the 2015 RegioStars Awards (8th edition) to four projects from among 17 finalists in four different categories. The winners are: - in the Smart Growth category, the Scandinavian Game Developers project from Denmark and Sweden, which contributes to the development of the regional digital gaming industry; - in the Sustainable Growth category, the PICSA project from Andalusia in Spain, which supports sustainable construction; - in the Inclusive Growth category, the Diritti a scuola project from Italy, which proposes training for fighting against school dropouts; - and in the City Star category, the urban cooperation Eurocity of Chaves-Verín project between Portugal and Spain. The RegioStars Award is given to the most innovative regional and cross-border projects. This year the Commission received over 143 applications - significantly more than the 80 applications it received last year. (PH)
