07/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Transport workers against 4th railway package. On Wednesday 7 October, the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) published a press release announcing a demonstration in Luxembourg to coincide with the Transport Council on 8 October - where European transport ministers are due to adopt a common approach on the fourth railway package (see other article). ETF's goal is to protest against opening public railway services up to competition, as planned in the measures of the fourth railway package. This competition would be “to the detriment of workers' social conditions and employment security”, according to ETF Deputy General Secretary Sabine Trier, who calls on EU transport ministers to abandon the European Commission's proposals.
