Brussels, 07/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - The foreign affairs ministers from the countries of the Western Mediterranean (5+5 Dialogue, which brings together Portugal, Spain, France, Malta, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Libya) started a two-day meeting in Tangiers (Morocco) on 7 October.
This special session is focusing on the theme of young people. The ministers will discuss the economic and security challenges in the Western Mediterranean, developing the theme of “resolving regional crises in the context created by the refugee crisis”, a press release from the French foreign ministry states.
France will co-chair this meeting for the northern shore of the 5+5 Dialogue, with Morocco co-chairing for the southern shore. The co-presidency mandate is for one year.
According to Moroccan media, the meeting was preceded by a Civil Society Forum in Tangiers on Tuesday, which was organised in partnership with the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean cultural foundation.
Morocco's Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar told media that the forum enabled “civil society's contribution to the reflection on the future of the Western Mediterranean to be highlighted”. (Original version in French by Fathi B'Chir)
