23/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Catherine Day appointed Commission Special Adviser. On Wednesday 23 September, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker appointed Catherine Day as Special Adviser for strategic issues regarding the EU's multiannual financial framework (MFF). Day, an Irish citizen, was the Secretary General of the European Commission from 2005 until her retirement on 31 August 2015, after a total of 36 years of European civil service. Between 2011 and 2013, she was actively involved in the negotiations of the 2014-2020 MFF. She will not be remunerated for her role. (LC)
