15/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Interreg celebrates its quarter-century. On Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September, Luxembourg will celebrate 25 years of the programme Interreg, with an event organised jointly by the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the programme Interact, which supports territorial cooperation between the regions of the EU. “Trust and patience are vital as we celebrate this silver anniversary”, said the Commissioner for regional policy, Corina Cretu. The agenda of the first day's conferences will include: a look back over the first 25 years, the economic and environmental role played by the programme in Europe and solutions to improve its efficiency. On the second day, speakers will discuss practices in cross-border cooperation in Africa and Latin America and the future of the programme up to 2040. (PH)
