The Special Adviser of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, announced on Monday 14 September that the leader of the Greek Cypriot communities, Nicos Anastasiades, and of the Turkish Cypriot communities, Mustafa Akýnci, believe that “the coming months will be critical for the process” of reunification. “The leaders agreed to intensify their work thereafter and increase the frequency of their meetings in the coming months, expressing their commitment to work tirelessly to reach a comprehensive settlement as soon as possible”, Eide added. The next meeting of the leaders will take place on Monday 12 October. (CG)
