14/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Sweden brings its railway management systems right up to date. According to an article in the European Railway Review published on Thursday 10 September, the Swedish operator Stocholmstag is poised to launch a new suburban railway management system, known as “Commuter prognosis”. This new system, which works by directly analysing global network data, makes it possible to predict any delays up to two hours in advance. According to the operator, the system “works like a seismograph. When a train is not on time, the algorithm forecasts the risks of delay and the effect on the entire network by using historic data”. The system means that passengers can be informed of delays before they even happen, according to the author of the article. Eventually, the Swedish operator hopes to be able to roll this system out across Europe and to other modes of transport. (PH)
