Brussels, 29/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, 28 July, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, announced the appointment of Angelina Eichhorst from the Netherlands as the new Director for Western Europe, the Western Balkans and Turkey. She is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation in Lebanon.
In a press release, the EEAS also announced that 16 heads of delegations had also been appointed
in the context of this year's rotation.
Joao Vale De Almeida has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York. He was previously the Head of the EU Delegation to Washington. Mark Vanheukelen has been appointed as Head of the Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva. He is currently a Director in DG Trade of the Commission. Didier Lenoir has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to the International Organisations in Vienna. He is currently serving as Adviser in the EEAS Department dealing with Europe and Central Asia. Andrea Wiktorin has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus. She is currently serving as the German Ambassador to Latvia.
Africa. Alain Holleville has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Mali. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation in Burkina Faso. Stefano-Antonio Dejak has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Kenya. He is currently serving as the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. He was formerly Ambassador to Somalia. Jana Hybaskova has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Namibia. She is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation in Iraq.
Asia. Traian Hristea has been appointed as the Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan. He is currently serving as the Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia. Jean-Francois Cautain has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Pakistan. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation in Cambodia. He will be replaced in Phnom Penh by the current British ambassador in Uzbekistan, George Edgar. Madeleine Majorenko has been appointed Head of the European Economic and Trade Office in Taiwan. She is currently serving as Head of the EEAS Division dealing with the European Neighbourhood Policy. Finally, Gerhard Sabathil has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to South Korea. He is currently serving as the EEAS Director for North East Asia and the Pacific. Francisco Fontan Pardo has been appointed as Ambassador to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), based in Indonesia. He is currently serving as Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Brazil.
Latin America. Joao Gomes Cravinho has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Brazil. He is currently serving as Head of the EU Delegation in India and Bhutan. Kenneth Bell has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Nicaragua. He is currently serving as Head of the EEAS Central America and Mexico Division. He will also be accredited to Panama and to the Central American Integration System (SICA). Pelayo Castro Zuzuarregui has been appointed as Head of the EU Delegation to Costa Rica. He is currently serving as Head of EEAS Division for Parliamentary Affairs and Inter-Institutional Issues.
According to the EEAS press release, a further 23 appointments of Heads of EU Delegations have also been decided and will be announced in due course, depending on the receipt of agrément from the third countries involved. (Camille-Cerise Gessant)
