Brussels, 02/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - DIGITALEUROPE, the association representing the European digital technology industry, has welcomed the clear focus given to digital transformation in the digital single market (DSM) strategy by ministers responsible for competitiveness at the Competitiveness Council on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 May (see EUROPE 11324).
“The digital technologies coming on stream are a game changer in terms of how companies function. They are being adopted widely all over the world so failure to take advantage of them will put European businesses at a commercial disadvantage”, warned John Higgins, director general of DIGITALEUROPE.
The DSM strategy covers a wide range of issues such as copyright reform, improving Europe's digital infrastructure and removing national barriers to e-commerce. However, the digital transformation of European industry is where the most tangible benefits will be felt, in the view of DIGITALEUROPE. (Isabelle Lamberty)
