07/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - Release of first payment (€100 million) of macrofinancial aid. On Wednesday 6 May, the European Commission announced the payment of the first batch of €100 million of the macrofinancial aid programme for Tunisia. The aid totals €300 million and is payable in three batches. It was approved by the EU in May 2014. EU Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said this was a tangible example of the European Union's support for Tunisia for its political transition and implementation of its reform agenda. He added that it was the economic arm of the reform agenda that must create the conditions for sustainable growth to the benefit of all and the macrofinancial aid disbursed by the EU would help in this task.
