Five financing agreements signed for €63 million

Brussels, 04/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 30 April, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn completed his two-day visit to Tunisia where he met the country's authorities and took part in a seminar on the theme of “Cooperating with the neighbours: Europe, North Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)”, organised by German foundations.

A press release from the European delegation in Tunis says that Hahn formally signed five financing agreements for a total of €63 million. These focus on judicial reform (€15 million), strengthening the audiovisual media sector (€10 million), promoting gender equality (€7 million), developing poorer districts (€28 million), and border management and the international protection of migrants (€3 million).

The EU “wanted to put more emphasis on its financial support in 2015. We accompanied Tunisia throughout the transition period by doubling our financial support. We are ready to increase our cooperation further”, Hahn stated. (Fathi B'Chir)
