Brussels, 09/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 10 April, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg will announce the launch of the three-year South II programme, which will be financed by the EU. The programme will support justice reforms in the targeted countries (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and the Palestinian Authority) and will prioritise “taking account of fundamental rights, like the freedom of expression”. The programme “will contribute to the expansion of a common legal space between Europe and the southern Mediterranean”, a press release states.
The Council of Europe will also offer “cooperation and technical assistance to promote good governance through, among other initiatives, the prevention of corruption and money-laundering and through fighting terrorism”. (Fathi B'Chir)
