Brussels, 17/02/2015 (Agence Europe) - In 2015, the European Union will allocate €32 million in humanitarian aid to people in crisis situations in Mali. Christos Stylianides, the European commissioner for humanitarian aid and crisis management, made this announcement on Tuesday 17 February during a visit to the country.
This assistance will help cover increasing humanitarian requirements related to malnutrition and renewed violence in the north of the country, which has provoked displacement of the population and hindered access to those in need of help. The €32 million is part of a €156 million envelope for all countries in the Sahel. (see EUROPE 11254). (Aminata Niang)
