Brussels, 29/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has provided a report back on some of the progress made in gender equality within the field of international cooperation 2013-2014. This was provided in a report on the implementation of its action plan in this area.
The Commission work document was presented on Thursday 29 January. It indicates that the EU has been able to raise the question of gender equality in many different forums and different regions. The programmes supporting women and girls, particularly in the education and health fields, are consistently increasing. The European delegations are providing much more information, in different sectors too, highlights the document. The struggle against violence against women is a priority of many of the delegations.
The analysis carried out by the Commission is based on 78 delegation reports focusing on 82 countries, as well as information from 20 member states, the Commission and the External Action Service. The indicators on political dialogue, programmes, peace and security have been taken into account. The action plan ends this year. (MD)
