28/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: PT Hitachi Construction Machinery/Itochu group/Hitachi Group. The European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control over PT Hitachi Construction Machinery Finance Indonesia by the Japanese groups Hitachi and Itochu. Hitachi manufactures construction machinery (hydraulic excavators) and sells log loaders, off-road dump trucks and other products worldwide. Itochu trades globally in goods in sectors such as textiles, machinery and energy, but also in real estate, insurance, logistical services, construction and finance. The joint enterprise provides financial services to end-customers and dealers in relation to the purchase of Hitachi construction machinery and trucks in Indonesia. The Commission concluded that the acquisition would not raise competition concerns because the joint venture has no activities in the European Economic Area. (EL)
