Brussels, 15/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - Another round of discussions between the European Commission and Germany regarding the motorway vignette scheme has been planned for the end of the month. European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc will travel to Berlin on 27 January to meet the German Minister for Infrastructure, Alexander Dobrindt. The motorway vignette project will be discussed, which has often been criticised in the perspective of the non-discrimination principle. This meeting will take place following a message the Commissioner sent at the end of 2014 to Dobrindt in which she expressed strong reservations about the German draft law (see EUROPE 11218). This text was received with some surprise in Germany. Given the number of questions the vignette project creates, the Commission is expected to begin a more extensive examination on the tollbooth system in Europe, according to sources close to the dossier.
