In 2013, flows of money sent by EU28 residents to a non-EU country, known as personal transfers, amounted to €28.3 billion, while inflows to the EU28 totalled €10.3 billion. This resulted in a negative balance (- €18 billion) for the EU28 with the rest of the world, announced Eurostat on 9 January.
