Brussels, 19/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - No new launch date has been included on the agenda for the Galileo satellites that are supposed to be sent into orbit this coming December. These launches remain suspended, following the most recent unsuccessful launch into orbit at the end of August last.
The final report was submitted to the European Commission at the end of October, by the independent investigation committee set up by Arianespace. This report confirms that the injection anomaly during the most recent launch led to the two satellites being incorrectly positioned (EUROPE 11173).
The Commission was unable to decide on the way the two satellites incorrectly launched into orbit can be used. Several scenarios are currently on the table and the investigation committee's recommendations are being examined, particularly at the Cabinet of the European Commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska, responsible for Industry and Space.
