Brussels, 14/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - GDP was up 0.2% in the eurozone in the third quarter, according to data published by the statistical office of the EU (Eurostat) on Friday 14 November.
At EU level, the growth in GDP observed stood at 0.3% in the EU. Over the second quarter of 2014, GDP had grown by 0.1% in the eurozone and by 0.2% in the EU.
Two member states are still in recession: Cyprus, where GDP fell by 0.4%, and Italy, whose GDP was down by 0.1%. There was zero growth in Austria. Growth was highest in Romania (+1.9%), Poland (+0.9%) in the United Kingdom and Greece (+0.7% each). It is worth noting that in Greece, the cumulative growth in GDP over the first three quarters of 2014 was 1.8%. By way of comparison, the increase in GDP was 0.1% in Germany, 0.3% in France and 0.5% in Spain.
Data were not yet available for Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovenia and Sweden. (MB)
