Brussels, 29/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European network of transmission system operators for electricity - ENTSO-E - welcomes the fact that the 2030 framework for climate and energy policies, decided upon by the European Council on 24 October, underlines the need to ensure that the internal market and the EU's energy security work well.
ENTSO-E hails the Council's repeated call (at the highest level of decision-making by the 28 EU member states) for urgent measures to achieve the 10% interconnection target of capacities installed in each member state by 2020 and an interconnection target of 15% by 2030. ENTSO-E promises to work closely with the European Commission to ensure that transmission infrastructure investments are made “where the system needs them most”, as identified by the ENTSO-E ten-year network development plan - which is implemented through the projects of common interest (PCI).
