Brussels, 27/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is expected to call on the European Commission to introduce a ticketing and planning system for multimodal transport. A draft own opinion by the rapporteur Petr Osvald (PES, Czech Republic) called for intensifying EU co-funded investment to connect information and ticketing services for public passenger transport at supranational, national, regional and local levels. It is particularly highlighting the importance of the local level in this connection because it is at this level that the first and last kilometres in the delivery of these services is most complicated. Although this stage is managed by the regional and local authorities, Osvald highlighted the importance of involving them in the development of these systems. His report was adopted by the CoR Committee for Territorial Cohesion policy (COTER) on Friday 24 October and will be put to a vote at the plenary on 3 December next. (MD)
