23/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - ENTSO-E wants interconnection targets to reflect real needs. The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) “in general supports” a 15% interconnection target by 2030 at pan-European level. However, to avoid over- or under-investment, it recommends adoption of differentiated country-by-country targets based on the ten-year network development plan. ENTSO-E also stresses that the impact of 2030 Renewable Energy Sources (RES) on infrastructure is not to be underestimated. That is the message from the electricity transport system operators on the eve of the European Council on 23-24 October, that is due to agree the climate and energy policy framework to 2030 and flesh out its joint action programme on energy security in the medium and long terms.
