17/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - Franco-Italian interest in European funding for TGV Lyon-Turin. On Tuesday 16 September, in the sidelines of the Informal Transport Council, the Italian and French ministers for transport succeeded in bringing their respective positions closer together with regard to completing the high-speed railway link between Lyon and Turin. The Italian minister, Maurizio Lupi, suggested that the two countries would request European funding, given that a European proposal has been opened with regard to providing up to €11 billion to co-finance the Trans-European Transport Network (see EUROPE 11153). The Franco-Italian duo also agreed to set up, by the end of the month, a Franco-Italian financial company that would be in charge of managing the work. (MD)
