Brussels, 02/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - Transport Ministers will be meeting up in Milan on 16-17 September to discuss the best ways of funding Trans-European transport network infrastructure (TEN-T).
This informal Council will be chaired by the Italian minister for transport, Maurizio Lupi and will also be attended by the European Commissioner for Transport, Siim Kallas. The first work session on Tuesday 16 September will focus on infrastructure planning and governance. The second, the following day, will look at financing instruments for the nine TEN-T corridors. Four corridor coordinators will act as discussion facilitators (Mediterranean-Scandinavian, Mediterranean, Baltic-Adriatic and Atlantic corridors).
The vice-president of the European Investment Bank, Dario Scannapieco, as well as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will also be sharing their expertise.
The ministerial debates in Milan are extremely appropriate given that an important call for tender for financing projects for initiatives that could be eligible under the Connecting Europe for TEN-T will open next week (see EUROPE 11145). (MD)
