23/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - Working group on Mitrovica bridge. The working group on Mitrovica bridge, in the north of Kosovo, met in Brussels on Tuesday 22 July to discuss the overall legislative framework and how the EU could assist any projects for the bridge on which the two parties might agree. The bridge is the subject of tension between the two communities (see EUROPE 11121). “The participants agreed to continue working on a joint way forward in the coming weeks”, said the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton. As a first step, the working group decided that the EU Office/EU special representative would carry out a technical assessment regarding Mitrovica bridge. The EU also called on all parties again to continue to refrain from any action which is not agreed with the other side on Mitrovica main bridge and the other bridges. (CG)
