On 17 July, the European Commission authorised the prolongation of the Irish credit union resolution scheme until 31 December 2014. The Commission found the extension of the scheme to be in line with its guidance on state aid to banks during the crisis because the prolonged measures are well targeted, proportionate and limited in time and scope.
