Brussels, 16/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 16 July, the member states decided on the number of MEPs in each of the inter-parliamentary delegations. The delegation to the joint EU-Turkey parliamentary commission will have 25 members; the delegation for relations with Switzerland and Norway, the delegations to the joint EU-Iceland parliamentary committee and the joint European Economic Area parliamentary committee will have 17 members; the delegation to the EU-Serbia stabilisation and association parliamentary committee will have 15 members. The delegations to the EU-Albania and the EU-Montenegro stabilisation and association parliamentary committees will have 14 members each and the delegation to the EU-former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia joint parliamentary committee and the joint parliamentary committee for relations with EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo will have 13 members each.
The delegations to the EU-Russia, EU-Ukraine and EU-Moldova parliamentary cooperation committees will have 31, 16 and 14 members respectively. There will be 18 members in the delegations for the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia parliamentary cooperation committees and 12 members in the delegation to the EU-Belarus parliamentary cooperation committee.
The delegations for relations with Israel, the Palestinian Legislative Council, the countries of the Maghreb and Union du Maghreb Arabe and Mashrek countries will each have 18 members. The delegation for relations with the Arabian peninsula will have 15 members, the delegation for relations with Iran 12 members and the delegation for relations with Iraq 8 members.
The delegation for relations with the United States will have 58 members; the delegation for relations with Canada will have 16 members and the delegation for relations with Brazil 14 members. The delegation for relations with Central America will have 15 members, the delegation for relations with the Andean Community 12 members, the delegation for relations with Mercosur 19 members and the delegations to the EU-Mexico, EU-Chile and EU-Cariforum joint parliamentary committees will have 14, 15 and 15 members respectively.
The delegation for relations with China will have 37 members. The delegations for relations with Japan and India will have 24 members each. The delegation for relations with South-East Asia and the Association of Nations of South-East Asia (ASEAN) will have 26 members. The delegation for relations with Southern Asian countries will have 15 members, the delegations for relations with the Korean peninsula will have 12 members, as will the delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand. The delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kirgizstan, EU-Uzbekistan and EU-Tajikistan joint parliamentary committees will have 19 members each, as will the delegations for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia.
When it comes to Africa, the delegation for relations with South Africa will have 16 members and the delegation for relations with the Pan-African Parliament 12 members. The delegations to the EU-ACP joint Parliamentary Assembly will have 78 members, EU-Latin American 75 members, Euronest 60 members and the Union for the Mediterranean 49 members. Finally, the delegation to NATO's parliamentary assembly will have 10 members. (CG)
