26/06/2014 (Agence Europe) - CER and UNIFE want agreement on technical pillar of railway package. The rail industry is urging the Italian Presidency to reach an agreement on the technical pillar of the 4th railway package by the end of the year. In a joint press release, the Community of European Railways (CER) and the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE) call on the institutions to get around the trialogue negotiating table as soon as the European Parliament and rapporteurs are confirmed. They also request that the Italian Presidency begins preparing the work in July, because it will only have five months to work on the question, because of the summer break in August. The two associations believe that such an agreement is essential if the sector's competitiveness is to be improved. (MD)
