Breakdown by state of EMFF aid finally announced

Brussels, 13/06/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 13 June, the European Commission published the breakdown by member state of the assistance under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).

This covers the aid for 2014-202 for fisheries and fish farming. Spain takes the lion's share with €1.16 billion for the whole period, out of a total of €5.75 billion (in current prices).

France gets €588 million (second place), ahead of Poland (€531 million) and Italy (€537 million). Portugal receives €392.5 million, Greece €388.7 million and the United Kingdom €243.1 million.

The Commission points out that the total budget of the EMFF is €6.4 billion euros if the money allocated to the Commission is included. In mid-May, the Council of the EU adopted without debate (with the abstention of Romania) the text of the regulation on the EMFF (see EUROPE 11074).
