Brussels, 28/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 27 May, in a press release, LACTIMED, the organisation responsible for promoting dairy products on the two sides of the Mediterranean, announced the launch of a, “competition for innovative products that promote the typical dairy products” of the region.
LACTIMED said that the operation began in Palermo, Sicily, on 24 May 2014 at the Traditional Sicilian Cheeses Week. The competition will then be launched in Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt and Greece in June 2014, said LACTIMED.
LACTIMED is funded by the EU to the tune of €4.35 million and seeks to “strengthen the production and distribution of typical and innovative dairy products” in the Mediterranean. As part of this action, it also aims to encourage “local sectors” and support SME projects and the creation of new outlets for their products. (FB)
