28/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - Denominations - three products registered. On 29 April, the European Commission announced that it had approved applications for the registration of three new products on the list of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI). These products are: “Jambon sec de Corse”/”Jambon sec de Corse - Prisuttu”, “Coppa de Corse”/”Coppa de Corse - Coppa di Corsica” and “Lonzo de Corse”/“Lonzo de Corse - Lonzu”. These three traditional Corsican cured meat products are made respectively from the thigh, shoulder and loin of the local breed of pig, Nustrale, an essential element of the terroir. The Commission's decision is soon to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union. (LC)
