Brussels, 02/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - In March, the unemployment rates in the eurozone and in the EU as a whole remained unchanged from the previous month, standing at 11.8% and 10.5% respectively, according to data published by Eurostat (the statistical office of the EU), on Friday 2 May. Unemployment levels have remained practically identical since the end of 2013.
Only four member states saw significant changes to their unemployment rates between February and March. Denmark's fell, from 6.9% to 6.5%. In Croatia, which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the EU, it dropped by 0.2% to 17.3%. The unemployment rate in Lithuania fell considerably, from 11.5% to 10.8%. The only major increase was seen in Cyprus, where unemployment rose from 16.8% to 17.4%. (JK)
