Brussels, 20/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 20 March, a European diplomat told a small group of journalists that both the West and Iran are serious in their commitment to the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear dossier.
He added that the aim is to reach a final agreement in six months, as per the timetable. Referring to the second round of negotiations held in Vienna on 18 and 19 March (see EUROPE 11042), he said that “the atmosphere during the talks was very good, despite the very complex issues on the table”. The diplomat went on to explain that the Ukrainian crisis and Russia's annexation of Crimea had had no effect on the intentions of the E3+3 (France, Germany, the United Kingdom plus China, the United States and Russia). “The E3+3 were in absolutely united”, he insisted. The source expects the examination by the International Atomic Energy Agency of implementation of the joint action plan decided upon in November to be positive. “According to our information, the implementation is well underway and everything is going according to plan”, he explained.
