Strasbourg, 25/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - The aviation agreement between the EU and Brazil is still awaited. The signature, which has already been postponed once, did not take place at the EU-Brazil summit as scheduled on Monday 24 February. A further round of negotiations was held between the parties on 20 and 21 February, without reaching a compromise on this agreement. Yet this is becoming an increasingly urgent matter in the run-up to the major sporting events to be hosted by Brazil: the football World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016. The joint declaration adopted following the summit confirms the support for the negotiations underway in order to conclude “as soon as possible”. (MD/transl.fl)
